Fashion Revolution Kenya - Pendeza

So proud to be working on BBC project of Fashion Revolution, Kenya

Working with a team researching the sustainability, profitability and environmental issues with textile production while also examining the local alternative fibers and fabrics being produced currently in Kenya

First stop Pendeza Weavers Kisumu Kenya

Where I Met William Okello who founded this social enterprise based in Kisumu in 1980

Pendeza has been investing in alternative fibers like the Calotropis Procera plant from Ukambani it has a short staple like make up with texture that resembles the combination of cotton and silk. William was kind enough to walk me though the process of weaving and working the Loom. It was all so fascinating and you see the human craftsmanship and care that goes into every hand made piece.
